HOW TO POINT YOUR CUSTOM DOMAIN TO BLOGGER

How To Point From Blogspot To Your Custom Domain

Custom Domain Means Control, flexibility, authority and professional wise. It's very important to switch from myguestposter.blogspot.com to your own personal domain like www.myguestposter.com.ng!

I'm happy to announce that myguestposter.blogspot.com.ng was successfully switch to www.myguestposter.com.ng . But what i want to point here is how I went about the whole process.

Most of the Internet practice isn't that hard or difficult to master or learn, provided you have a positive mindset.

How can I point my custom domain to my blogspot?

This is the same question I ask Google; I believe so many of you have been asking the same question.
The fact still remains; Internet has literally make learning so easy, you don't even need to pay money before you learn, no boundaries on how much you can learn; provided you're curious about learning new things, capable of transforming your entire world and financial wise.

So how can you point your custom domain to your blogspot

First; your blog must be up and running
The next thing is to buy a domain name with any of the registrar: it can be Goddy or Namecheap, but for me; I use qservers.net. Qservers is base in Nigeria, to avoid the stress of dollar exchange wahala.
After you've properly register your custom Domain.

Wait; How can I register a domain name
Domain name is a personalised name given to a brand. E.g myguestposter is my domain name, I formulated it, corresponding to the kind of service am rendering.

So your domain name tells the people what your site or brand is a about.
You have to make sure that your domain name defines your business or the aim of your platform.

Another thing is that: you've to make your domain memorable, short and readable when join together→ my-guest-poster= myguestposter.com.ng .
If you're already a blogger and the name of your blog is okay;  then use that same domain name.
E.g http://myguestposter.blogspot.com was the name I use when I was under blogger, but since I've detached from blogspot.
I still use the same name→ myguestposter.

What I did was that; I went to a registrar site and search for that same name→myguestposter and luckily the name was not taken by another person, so I went ahead to register. All you need do is to go to the registrar website, you will a box like below, type in the name you want to use as your domain and click on search.

A window will open telling you if the domain name is still available or not, if the name is still available, a window like this would appear

Click add to cart and follow the instruction in the next window when you click on Add to Cart, but remember that the domain extension varies in price, for e.g; yourdomain.com.ng is 1500 per year.
Look the picture below to see the different extensions with different price tag:

The above are the suggested domain names you can choose from if you don't like the one typed at first, but don't forget the price are different. So now add to cart and follow the step by step process of making payment, after a successful payment, you also have to send them payment notice.
When your payment is confirm, your domain name will be activated, it now time to point your domain to your blog.

Head over to your blogger dashboard, click on setting→basic→ look at the page, you will see Blog Address, click on the sentence (Set Third Party Url)
A Box will appear, type in your registered domain name, make sure it start with www.yourdomain.com and click save. look at the picture below:

An error message with other information on what to do next like this ↓↓

Now; copy those words down or open new window, go to the the registrar's site, where your domain name was registered. Login to your the client area

The word I circled and the second one is what you need, so www and ghs.google.com and 7ozonlsght3c gv-43qgrcpaojcufd.dv.googlehosted.com also.

Now login to your dashboard where you registered your domain name, remember that the process may not be the same as to other platforms like Godday or Namecheap. To me; I'm using Qserver because I can pay with my local currency without the exchange wahala.

After you've login, you will see the above, just click on the 2 DOMAINS, in your case, it may be one domain, the one you see above is two because have registered two domain with them.

Another window will open showing you all the active domain names

Click on the drop down by your right hand and select  (DOMAIN DNS MANAGER)

To the next window

  • Now; type in www in the first box that says (Host Name)
  • 2 click on the drop down and select (CNAME)
  • 3 type in this (ghs.google.com)
  • Click save change
Add new DNS record again, i.e; repeat the same process, but now use this:
(7ozonlsght3c) (gv-43qgrcpaojcufd.dv.googlehosted.com)
Just as you did before, copy 7ozonlsght3c and put it in the first box which says HOST NAME
Select the drop down and select CNAME,
Then copy this gv-43qgrcpaojcufd.dv.googlehosted.com and put it in the third box,
Click on Save change.

The next step is to add these four IP google addresses below:

  1. 216.239.32.21
  2. 216.239.38.21
  3. 216.239.34.21
  4. 216.239.36.21
Repeat the same process by adding a new DNS record

  1. Just type in @ in the first text box
  2. Select the drop down and select A
  3. Then type in the IP address in the last text box
Repeat the process until you the last IP address .
Remember to click save each time you fill in the necessary information.
The next thing you will do; go back to your blogger dashboard:

Click on setting and  click on (+ Set up a third-party URL for your blog - Point your own registered URL to your blog.) type in your domain name again and save change, don't worry about the error message, just leave it for at least 35minute.

If it went well, you will see something like this:

Now click on the Edit and tick the box you will see and click save, that is all. Google will do the rest for you!
