That Paper In Your Hands Is Like A Promising Note!
It doesn't make you competent in anyway!
The matter of the moment
Is Certificate Or Degree The Right Instrument To Measuring Competency?
CAPITAL NO!!!
It's really unfortunate! We have shifted our focus and attention to credentials as the means of measuring competence.
Let's us look at the meaning of competency:
According to dictionary; Competency is:
"(obsolete) A sufficient supply (of).
(obsolete) A sustainable income
The ability to perform some task; competence.
(legal) Meeting specified qualifications to perform.
(linguistics) implicit knowledge of a language’s structure."
So now certificate says; you studied elect-elect, but that doesn't make you competent, until you show working in the field.
That paper in your hand is just a promising note testifying on your behalf. But the paper doesn't really tell if one is really qualify!
I still remember one of my experience about this certificate issue:
A time in my life needed something to do so as to make some money. So one of my friend referred me to a particular organisation.
I'm a baker with years of experience, so I went there and showcase myself as a baker and the man asked me if I'm with my certificate, I said no, he said: we don't employ without certificate.
He didn't even care to know about my practical experience.
He didn't even care to know about my practical experience.
I was so angry that day; not because of the certificate he asked me, but the mindset people have in this part of the world.
I come to understand why we have so many incompetence people all over over organisations.
This also why we have counterfeit and quacks professionals. The meaning of quack?
"A fraudulent healer or incompetent doctor of medicine, an impostor who claims to have qualifications to practice medicine.
A charlatan.
(slang) A doctor.
"
So what is the areas of your competence?
Are you really what your certificate is saying?
What if you're presented with some practicals, can you defend your career?
Hmmmm! Answer is personal.
Why leaving who you are, when you have a unique destiny and purpose!
Why not be yourself and develop what is inside you, rather than trying to imitate other people.
So many unemployed graduate, most time, not because there's no jobs.
Competent people all over, but they're not given that chance to show their competency.
While the quacks are busy doing nothing.
What a mess!!!!!!!!!!
Until we change our mindset, things wouldn't change.
